Rural Travel Journal

Write for us

Rural Travel Journal welcomes considered pitches about countryside travel: places, planning, getting around, stays and pastimes. We look for specific ideas that help readers make thoughtful choices without requiring specialist knowledge or costly equipment.

What makes a good pitch

Send a concise proposal with a working title, the central question, the main idea readers will take away and why it suits this publication. Tell us what makes the subject distinct from familiar travel advice. A strong pitch has a clear scope and gives readers something they can consider or do safely.

The right fit

We are interested in evergreen subjects, resourceful approaches and attentive writing about rural places. We are less suited to promotional copy, broad destination roundups, claims that depend on unverified first-hand experience, or advice that turns on local rules or safety-critical conditions.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include any relevant background and a way for us to reply. A proposal is not a guarantee of assignment or publication; please send the idea first rather than a finished article.

Our point of view

A good trip leaves room to notice

We favour considered plans, familiar comforts and the details of a place over a packed schedule or a list of must-sees.
